On behalf of the VATIE Board of Directors and the conference planning team, I would like to invite you to attend the upcoming VATIE Summer Conference in Richmond, Virginia, 2009 Career and Technical Education Summer Professional Development Institute --- Developing a Bright Future.
This theme should bring thoughts of change---What is new? How can I better teach my students? How can I connect with other teachers to make teaching more effective? Remember, "Do not confine your students to your own learning for they were born in another time." Come ready to give help and seek help with your competencies, teaching methods, and classroom/lab management techniques.
Our conference is reserved at the Holiday Inn Select - Koger South 1021 Koger Center Blvd. Richmond, VA 23235 1-804-379-3800 from July 31 through August 8, 2009. The conference planning team is eager to meet your professional needs and provide you with networking opportunities and a variety of workshops in technology education.
Workshops are available for middle and high school teachers from all areas of the Career and Technical education core subjects as well as OSHA updates and the (JMU) GPSY 160 "Life Span Human Development" class that is taught by Dr. Mark Church. We have asked for hands-on presentations to energize the beginning of the next school year. Bring a USB drive with your best lessons, activities, projects, and assessments to share. All presenters have been asked to identify the competencies their presentations address and to supply their materials in a digital format.
Come to share what works for you and to ask others how they teach the competencies.
Thank you for taking the time to review this letter. I look forward to seeing you at this summer's conference.
Sincerely,
Sid Delepine,
VATIE President
